Expansion Core Alpha 0.6.0 Patch Notes
NEW BUILD! Alpha 0.6.0 Patch Notes:
Major Features:
- Upgrading Mobile Bases: You can now set up the Mobile Base and upgrade it (with the big upgrade button). It costs quite a bit, but allows you to build more modules, as well as larger modules.
- Scrapping: You can now scrap old bots and structures for a portion of their build cost back!
- Scorched Biome: The Scorched biome now looks very very different. Go visit the oddly colored pillars and bask in the strange environment. It's still not finished, but the vibe is getting there!
- Sounds Galore: I've painstakingly added sounds to almost everything that should have sounds in the game! That includes allies, enemies and destructibles! Just on initial testing, this has added a lot of polish to the game that I didn't know it needed.
- All Allies Attack: I made it so that almost every ally has a basic melee attack so that they can retaliate if they're all alone. That being said, in a future update, you will still be able to set allies to passive to prevent them from attacking. (For now, every bot just fights to the death).
- New Trading: At every Beacon that has a spawned HUB, there is now a new menu for trading. You can now power the Beacon with energy to call down a Trade Pod. Trade Pods are structures that you can place items in to launch into space for money! Trade Pods take time, based on the size of the Pod, to launch. During the launch sequence, enemies spawn, so be sure to prepare defenses before starting! Note: This means that the old Trade Bot has been removed from the game!
New Features:
- Inventory Sorting: There's now an inventory sort button! It sorts based on item category and ID. Super useful for larger inventories.
- Crystal Shards: They've been in game for a while, but now they're used in many more recipes! They are also now used to power more things!
- Core Resetting: There is now a button on the Core Upgrade menu that allows you to fully reset a core. It destroys all the current upgrades so that you can slot in new ones.
- Drill Bot Movement: Drill bots now actively seek the nearest minable location and start drilling. It also occasionally spawns enemies while the drill is active, so be sure to protect them!
- Naming Limit: Increased the character limit to 18 for allies.
- Applying Upgrades to Mobile Base Core: You can now properly add upgrades to the mobile base, including inventory upgrades!
- Drop Rates: Changed a bunch of drop rates for all resources and enemies. Overall the balance is closer to how I want the game to be, but there's still obviously going to be some changes in the future.
- Aggro Updates: Allies and Enemies both got aggro updates so that they now properly sense each other, attack each other and retarget when appropriate.
- Minable Colors: Changed a lot of the minable rock colors to be slightly more vibrant than the environment so they're a bit easier to see.
- Furnace Inventory Upgrade: Made it so that furnaces only receive half of the inventory upgrade's stat boost (overall they still get the same number of slots, just distributed between their input and output slots).
Bug Fixes:
- Got rid of tree collisions to avoid random spinning and occasional unintended player launching.
- Fixed armor for the final time (hopefully), so now it should properly increase the player's max health when equipped.
- A bunch of bugs related to death for the player, allies and enemies have been addressed. There's still a lot to be done, but there should at least be less dead bots following the player and more logical aggroing when enemies die.
- Fixed a lot of default names and descriptions for items and allies.
- Fixed some bugs related to the Mobile Base for the temporary tutorial.
Behind the scenes:
- Lots of work went into this one... though not as much as the HUBs cause those were a nightmare! What's up next to work on is kind of a toss up at the moment. I'll wait to see some playtest feedback to see what needs immediate improvement, but otherwise it might take some time to really figure out what's next on the agenda. There's still so much work to do, but each part I work on just makes the game better and better.
- Just so it's not completely in the dark, I'm looking at these for possible next update changes: Adding more locations around the map, Updating player movement to feel better, Adding a new research system (timed based on # of bots), Experimenting with ally commands (more complex commands and aggro states) and possibly Player Upgrading (Using the same upgrades as allies for the player).
