Expansion Core Beta Candidate 0.5 Patch Notes
NEW BUILD! Beta Candidate 0.5 Patch Notes:
Three updates three weeks in a row. I honestly don't know how I keep logging enough changes to make builds, but I have for almost a month now. So here it is, mostly bug fixes again, but some new features sprinkled in! My favorite bits are; Major changes to the Transfer bot, including the ability to research and build more, updates to the Axe bot's logic so that it will try to chop more trees if it's inventory is not full and a small update to the Upgrade UI so that you can see how many used slots/total slots there are.
New Features:
- Better Axe bot and Transfer bot interactions: Now the Axe bot can be put in two states (Gathering and Not Gathering). While gathering, if the Axe bot is full, it will return home. If at home and the inventory is emptied, the Axe bot will return to trying to cut trees. This effectively makes it so that, as long as the destination has room, the Axe bot will function indefinitely instead of stopping all actions.
- Axe bot interaction text now changes based on what's happening (IE it shows "Inventory full" and "No trees nearby" when it can't be activated)
- Transfer bots can no be built! This means that there's no limit to how many transfer lines the player can make. This also means CHAOS! I'm sure I'll have to fix some stuff relating to having 20+ transfer bots, specifically with pathing and UI, but otherwise everything should be working for the most part.
- Unified the shading model for everything. I got some comments that the fact that some bots/enemies are smoothly shaded, while others aren't made things look amateur. I went back and forth, but ended up landing on flat shading just because I personally like the look more.
- Added in text in the Upgrade menu in order to show the player how many total slots and how many slots are being used. This will help players decide if it's worth resetting a Core.
Bug Fixes:
- Saving and Loading modules on the mobile base used to spawn doubles (oops). This has been fixed
- Storage bot/other types of storage will now correctly be named
- A major bug that was causing Cores to spawn with crazy high slot numbers has been fixed
- Trade Pods now cause the Core drop pod to despawn when summoned before the drop pod naturally decays
- Fixed an issue that caused picking up items to kinda suck. I believe I made it work a bit better, but it'll just take a bit to see if it's really fixed
- Ally Icons (the wrench for repair and gear for needing energy) now show when the player is further away
